The Story of Ciambella

For April’s edition of Casa Colavita, we are happy to feature Marisa Colavita, the wife of our CEO Giovanni Colavita.

Read on to learn the story about one of her unique recipes that she loves cooking for her children.

“I often make this ring shaped cake for my children for breakfast or as a snack. It’s a special recipe that uses olive oil instead of butter and it has no dairy so it’s great for anyone who is lactose intolerant. I love making this cake in the afternoon when my children get home from school.  While they are playing or doing their homework, our home is filled with a sweet fragrance and “homemade” warmth that reminds me of my childhood.  My mother would make this same dessert for me and my siblings when we were children during the long and cold winter days in Molise, Italy.”
