It probably comes as no surprise that here at Colavita, most of our employees love to cook.  We have a certain appreciation for food that comes with talking about it all day long, and our Colavita kitchen is always buzzing with talk of recipes and cooking tips. It only made sense for us to put together a list filled with everyone’s top favorite kitchen gadget, one they could not live without. The list may surprise you or it may encourage you to purchase something unique and unexpected to make every meal easier, quicker, and more fun!

Jenny, Social Media- Do you follow us on social media? Jenny is the girl behind the screen choosing recipes and photos most of the time. She chose her whisk because she can use it for baking and cooking and loves their simple and beautiful design. There’s one on her necklace, too!

Carlie- Carlie chose her great grandma’s confectionery sugar shaker that has been passed down through generations. It’s bent and misshapen, but reminds her of baking with her family as she was growing up.

Susan- Her Microplane, because it a multipurpose tool, quintessential in every gourmet kitchen. She uses it for lemon zest, Parmesan cheese, ginger, garlic, chocolate, the list goes on and on.

Stefano- Stefano is usually found around lunch time, whipping up something on the stove. He chose his Le Creuset dutch oven. He said he can make anything in it and it can go from the stove to the oven easily.

Gemma- Gemma is from Barcelona, which makes it no surprise that she chose a Paella pan, a staple in Spain.

Gaurav, Quality Control- He knew his answer right away- his NutriBullet. With it, he loves making smoothies with frozen fruit and yogurt.

Lara and Sophia- Both these ladies chose a garlic press, claiming that it makes cooking with garlic much easier and faster. Sophia said she uses it the most out of anything in her kitchen. You can never have too much garlic!

Felicia- She chose her potato peeler, saying her favorite thing to make is potato salad.

Debbie- This 4-in-1 Chop Slice, which she says makes cooking so much faster and more efficient.

Anna Maria, HR- Anna Maria is always questioned for cooking advice around the office and is known for her delicious sauce. She said her favorite item is her immersion blender. She will often start to cook her onions in a large pan and then she’ll pour in her sauce with tomato chunks, using her immersion blender to mix while it cooks, saving time (and dishes!)

Matt- Matt, who just had a baby (congrats!), chose his ice cream scoop. Just in case his new baby keeps him up, he can turn to ice cream for a midnight snack.

Jeanne- After being told that she couldn’t just choose a fork, Jeanne chose her crock pot, because it helps when making meals ahead of time.

Merill- Her ice crusher (which you can purchase if it isn’t attached to your fridge). She uses it for smoothies and water bottles when ice cubes don’t fit.

Matteo and Ryan- Both chose their handheld mixers. Ryan uses it when he bakes and lately he’s been making chocolate snickerdoodles. Matteo uses it when he makes tiramisu, one of our favorite Italian classics!

Kim- A well known baker in the office, it’s not surprising that she chose her Kitchen Aid. She has a white one which she uses to make her signature pignoli cookies.

Nicole and Flora- They both said their food processor. Nicole has this Cuisinart processor, which whips up dough in less than a minute. She also uses it for vegetables and hummus.

Berdina- Her spatula, which was a gift from her daughter three years ago. She said it is from William Sonoma and always remembers it due to it’s sentimental value.

Alexey-He chose his cocktail shaker, saying that his favorite thing to make was watermelon margaritas- Yum!

Yes, the list is a long one… and this isn’t even the whole office. However,  cooking is one of those things that’s meant to be shared and talked about. Whether you’re a cooking novice who finds most recipes daunting or you are an experienced chef, it’s important to break out of your comfort zone and try something new in the kitchen every once in a while. We hope this post inspires you to do just that. If you have a kitchen gadget in mind that you’d like to share, please comment below- we love hearing from you!

Buon Appetito!
